“I love travelling, because it’s always different. It’s not the same thing every day. You can’t get bored of it. I feel like I can settle for a while anywhere, but I do get very bored if I do the same thing over and over. After school, I worked for a year over here, then I went to England for two years and travelled around Europe. I worked in a few bars and pubs. On the way home from there, I spent three or four months in Asia. Any holiday, anywhere, I am happy. When I first got back from travelling, I felt like I was two years behind everyone. I was like, I didn’t know what I was going to do next. I didn’t want to be one of those people that travels for way too long and then come back and have nothing behind them. There were a few years where I did jobs that I didn’t really like and that was tough to come back to. It’s hard to say what the best place I’ve been to is, but Canada is the place I want to go back to the most. I planned to live there for two years, but 10 days in, I had to return because of Covid. I probably could have stayed over there if I had a job, house or friends, but I had none of them. I ended up doing a 10-day road trip, which was great, I did some snowboarding, and a fair bit of partying. After the fires, my outlook on life changed and decided to make the most of literally everything, because you never know what will happen. Before, I was stuck in a bit of a rut, just going through the motions which made me feel a bit negative at times. Then in the fires, people lost everything, some died, some nearly died, this kick started my new mind set. That’s why I bought the shop. If I was stuck here and can’t travel, I might as well do something productive with my time. The renovations of the shop I am most excited about; improving and expanding, setting goals – I like that side of it. It’s nice to see a vision come through. I want it to be somewhere you go to hang out and relax, with a nice atmosphere, not just a quick stop take-away shop. I’d love for people to actually want to come here and hang around for a while.”
